This body of work documents African Black women serving in the civil service, photographed within the spaces where they have dedicated years of their lives to public service.

These women are the subject of this documentary because they represent the quiet, often overlooked individuals whose labour sustains our society. Their contributions are rarely celebrated, yet their commitment, resilience, and consistency form the backbone of many public institutions.

The women featured in this project have served between 5 and 31 years, reflecting decades of dedication across different stages of their careers. By placing them as the key subject of the frame, this work seeks to acknowledge their service, honour their presence, and preserve their stories as part of our collective social history.
